Default oil change - hot or not?

Just a quick one. I intend to do an oil change this weekend so should the oil be warmed up or not? Or is it one of these issues that spark long and heated debate and is down to personal preference?

Should always be drained with the oil hot as it is thinner then and drains out better.

I have to agree with the HOT change, but can also see why you would want to do it cold, as quite often, i would do the oil change about an hour after the engine was run, so as to allow any surplus oil to return to the sump, I would then leave the oil to drip, for a good period of time to get all of it out,

Smile Hot definately HOT!!!

Give it a good blast to stir things up and get it hot and then take the oil out as quickly as possible, keep yourself out the way and wear welding gloves.:lol:

I WOULD NOT do this!

So what? You cane your car to get the oil temp up to 90-100 degrees C then you stop and immediately drain it.

Tell me, whats going to stop all the metal components from warping as they start to cool so drastically?

Leave it at lest 10 minutes before draining.
