keeping red paint...red
i have noticed that many red cars ( non metalic ) fade and go dull in patches and then all over, the in-laws citreon went like it. i was told that its common due to the pigments?
i currently use color magic plus+ red and wax it with extreme nano-tech (turtle wax) and every so often Mer when it gets abit naff. are these products any good for now untill ive used them up, but mainly i dont want the red to fade. can anyone point me in the right direction in preventing this or reccommend any products. regards lee |

I had a Capri that did this. Just the bonnet. had to T Cut it every so often. Don't know the name of the colour, but it was a sort of brown/orange.

My first THREE (!) Capris had patches of brown/orange around the wheel arches, headlamps and just about anywhere else water and moisture collected.

Even though my Capri was 11 years old when I got it and was a bit bashed, it hardly had any rust on it at all.

My first one was 12 when I got her. I paid £400 back in '88. About a year and a half later I got the chance to buy another for spares for £40. It turned out it was in better nick than the first one! So that was my second Capri - in Venetian Red.

I had a Capri 1.6 in black. Lovely car, but the bonnet used to look greyish after a while. Came up great again with as good polish. Red does seem to be the worst, maybe red from years ago was worse than today. Often used to see salmon pink cars that were meant to be red! Having said that, I now have a Rover 600 in Nightfire red and that is hard work to keep looking pristine too................................
