![]() Un-fortunately, the above is not due to incredible mpg.
Having spent many months 24+, never having filled the tank to much more than 1/4, I filled up for my drive to Spain (I'm in Torrevieja at the moment). No problem, fuel gauge went to full. However a few hundred miles into the journey and it was obvious that the gauge was not decreasing as it should and was reading too high by as much as 50%. Today I used the IPK diagnostic and took the pictures attached. Can anyone shed some light on what could be wrong please. Tommy

![]() It’s likely to be a problem with the sender resistors in the fuel tank. There are two variable resistors, one each side. If one or both are reading high, or a float arm is stuck, the gauge will read fuller than the tank is. I’ve had this problem a couple of times and cleaning the resistor surfaces or reorientating the float arms has resolved it. You should check the resistor surface for damage when you clean them. There’s more detailed threads on here about this if you do a search.
