Default 2-stroke oil

Don't recall reading anything about this on here.

Does anyone add 2-stroke oil to their diesel fuel, and if so, what is the result?

Mick

Never even heard of that!. Would the result be your engine making "ring ting ting ding ding ding" noises? lol. I know my wee boys mini-moto does.

When i was working as a HGV driver our fitting staff always told us to put a gallon of engine oil in a full tank 500lts every 12 weeks as it keep the injector pump lubcated and we never had any probs with it.

Have been doing a lot of reading on't 'net, and the general consensus seems to be that because of the ultra-low sulphur fuel we are now using the lubricity has gone from the fuel, which obviously has a fairly detrimental effect in the long term on the engine.
2-stroke oil can assist in lubricating pumps, EGR, injectors etc. It also burns better than diesel, so apparently can improve particulate emissions. A further benefit would appear to be much quiter running (possibly the effect of the lubricant factor).
Just wanted to know if anyone on here was doing this and what their observations were.

Mick

Frist time ive heard of adding 2 stroke...we used to add petrol many moons ago to stop diesel from freezing.

Id be very interested to know how many folks have tried this and if it had any effect?

Id rather not try until someone else has given i the thumbs up though!

I've always used Millers DPP to help with the lubrication of the injector pump, injectors etc..

A very merry Christmas to all.

I wouldn't suggest adding Petrol to our Diesel cars.
Millers or similar would keep the parts lubricated, Injectors etc. as that is what it says on the bottle.
Never tried normal Oil or 2 Stroke in Fuel Tank,
but on over 100,000 miles in three years haven't had any problems by not putting it in.

Definately an old wife that told you this story.

Fuel companies spend millions on research and testing, oil additive companies like Lubrizol and Addibis have also spent millions. The Thornton Research Centre in Ince spend millions working out what if any additives are required for all types of engines.

A friend who works at Lubrizol gets engines from all the manufacturers and bench tests them to destruction.
