75 & ZT Owners Club elected to No 10
We are now in the Downing Street driving seat and the unusual suspects are long gone. So what is the plan ?.
Can we do better?. Cheers Tony

I've moved the thread into the social forum Tony as the subject is going to have a very broad range of answers! Interesting question of yours though.....

Scrap all foreign-made cars working in civil service.
Remove all perks from civil servants who use non-UK made cars. Introduce a new version of the Highways Agency which will monitor road quality and traffic levels and report on 5-year fiscal requirements. In other words, give it some teeth! Directly pay at least 50% of all road-related taxation to the Highways Agency. Force all learners to ride a moped for 6 months Restrict new drivers to vehicles of 1000cc or less until they are 21 Theory re-test of all drivers every 5 years, 30 minute driving test every 10. All foreign vehicles to pay £100 on entry to the UK, refundable if the stay is less than 14 days. Foreign HGV vehicles would not receive the refund Scrap tax disks Charge for inner-city residential parking (low wage earners would have exemptions) Charge foreign nationals a levy for vehicle ownership and usage All foreign nationals not allowed to drive until after completing a theory test. All vehicles owned by banned drivers impounded All vehicles owned by people who have failed a theory or driving test automatically impounded And finally..... Anyone caught driving in the middle lane would be hand 6 points and a 7-day ban! |

Remove all fuel duty and transfer duty to all imported food produce that could easily be sourced from within the UK.

Serious
All parking fines, congestion charges, currently avoided by foreign embassy officials through diplomatic immunity paid in full with interest. That should keep the National Health Service in good state for the next 10 years. Tongue in cheek All Mk1 MG ZTs in XPower Grey exempt from VED and fuel for same reduced to 20p per litre (about the correct price). The rest of you can negotiate your own discounts. |

Review of sentencing regarding driving offences.
e.g. An 18 month driving ban for someone who is caught driving without a licence / insurance / tax is ridiculous. Will that stop them driving..? I don't think so. Tougher sentencing to discourage this or maybe strictly enforced community orders which help the road user (removing debris from motorways maybe?) Stricter penalties for TWOCers and reckless / drunk driving. How many times have I seen these Police Camera Action type programmes where someone performs reckless endangerment in a stolen car; uses up police and helicopter (££) resources and the worst they get is a few points on their licence and 28 days community service. I appreciate that the prisons are full but can we think of a better punishment for these people? |

use old cabinet as eyes-and-ears road network monitors, affixing to 75 and ZTs that have otherwise lost their undertrays.
