Unhappy Sad day for Glasgow

The iconic Charles Rennie MacIntosh designed Glasgow School Of Art has been devastated by fire. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...-west-27541883

A great shame, full of true art and beautiful things, glad it would seem that no one was hurt...

I studied there in the late '70s, the interior was truly stunning.

The overwhelming smell across the city centre was that of burning paper .

Yep a sad day for an iconic building.

Indeed mate very sad. Scary too! One of my little fears is fire. Hate it, very dangerous and unpredictable. Hats off to the guys fighting it.

Mmm terrible shame.
Apparently an over head projector overheated.
Wonder when it was last serviced ?
Any device with a fan running gets blocked with dust.

It probably had the yearly electrical safety PAT test but I've always thought most of those procedures are a money making farce

A beautiful building, so sad to see it in this state. Hopefully the main structure is still sound and it can be saved.

PAT test would only check the flex, earth and plug of a portable appliance Jules.
Ok if its not spur wired it should be tested but they would not look at fans, filters and general condition, just plug the lead in, press test and put a sticker on it.... £15 quid each please....

Now saying they have saved a lot more of the building than initially feared, 90% of the structure and 70% of the contents safe.

It looks a beautiful building, it would be a terrible loss if it was destroyed.

Hopefully it will be restored as soon as possible.
