Default charities and water for the 3rd world

For goodness knows how many years charities have been asking for money to help get clean drinking water to villages in the 3rd world. Today they are still asking.

Where the heck has all the money gone that people have donated over the years?

My bold.

The same can be asked by UK taxpayers who have contributed god knows how much in international aid over the years.

The answer is simple. Into the coffers of Gucci. Rolex, BMW, Mercedes and Audi. Other manufacturers are available.

Call it like and what it is, the velvet glove with the wodge of cash. It goes through official channels and then disappears in the myriad threads of private and civil patronage.

Covered by a tangle of platitudes and unchallengeable half truths it is untraceable. It might be passed by government, but not by the people.

Does anyone remember the plane holds being unloaded of roller cages full of millions of dollars in Vietnam? Cut it to zero, and let the needy parties make their applications direct, by-passing the government.

Well the story goes that a village in the middle of nowhere had wells drilled and pumps fitted to give fresh water to the inhabitants.. Shortly after the wells were commissioned They were destroyed by the women folk. The reason why was they preferred to walk the odd five + miles a day to get water as it was the only time they could get away from the Men.

I totally agree .I'm so glad it's just not me . I went to school in the 70s. Blue Peter where pushing this and in my primary school we where raising money for this . , And I remember it well .they's Said it would give water to every village . ? 45 years on and still the same story .
If they have to walk miles then move NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- closer or get a bigger bucket . ! Where did the money go .
Sorry I'm not a bad person but the money was given and nothing happened

Default Water Aid

The reality and con not at all widely known is that the much publicised Water Aid charity is entirely financed by you and me. The privatised water companies contribute zilch. Since Mrs T sold them off collectively they have harvested some £53 billion in dividends to date. When I wrote to Water Aid last year I received a long and fulsome email from the PR company explaining that "the staff give lots of their time in circulating appeals in their bills to us and help run charity events to raise funds." But the companies pay over precisely nothing. Why don't you write to your water supplier and see what response you receive? It's a national rip off and scandal.

A friend of mine worked in distributing lorrys and vans to the people in need in africa funded by Band Aid etc,

He asked why some of the lorries were abandoned in the field, the answer he got was that the farmers used them and when they ran out of fuel they just dumped them.

Some people you can help others you cannot, what are the men doing when we see women and children walking miles to fetch water, just a thought ,as you never see any men anywhere on all these film clips which are asking for our hard earned cash

Hi.
My wife is Kenyan. Her dad is a retired teacher and lives in a village a few Km outside Nyahururu. They have 2.5 acres of very fertile soil. They have two bore holes for water, solar power and their home is nice, not to our standards admittedly but perfectly acceptable. The cost of drilling the bore holes is relatively cheap and easy to do. The water table isn't that deep to access. The water is bacteria free and very fresh. At least Kenya is better thgan some places but is steeped in corruption which is a big problem in many African countries. Some like Tanzania are fighting corruption and at least there many have been jailed or thrown out of government. Look up covid19 millionaires in Africa, it'll shock you.
