The fact that the MOT test is only valid on the day of issue is only good to a certain extent. Items such as bulbs can go pop literally as soon as the test is complete. But no advisories? To pass a car with no underbody advisories but then needs extensive structural rebuilding just six months later needs serious investigation.
My Cowley 75, which John thoroughly inspected just a few days ago, also needs new suspension arms. It was MOT'd in late August 2020 with no advisories. However, the corrosion is only in its early stages, I've seen it up close, but enough to fail its next MOT. We often hear complaints about picky testers who fail cars for the most trivial of reasons. Here we have the total opposite. If that was my car I would be taking up the matter with the DFT immediately, and asking John to keep any parts or materials removed from it as potential evidence.
