That must have have been “fun” for all not expecting it!!!

I can just imagine the “W T F!!!!” reactions of those not expecting such a “visit”.

Apparently he went flat out at low altitude down the main runway before pulling up. Realising his mistake he hightailed it back up to his home base.
We learnt about at the following Airshow when we went for our briefing.

Not according to this - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...3499999753&z=8

It's the line on the left (the one that goes over Yeovil, Weston, Worcester etc).

Went to the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 2000. I think they put up 24 Spitfires and Hurricanes. The Blenheim was also airbourne.

Referring to crashes into the ground,
I used to fit Econocruise cruise control systems and the technical guy (Mike Watkins) at the factory in Rugby had a share in what I think was an American plane.
He was doing a display, I think in the Manchester area and his aircraft flew into the ground.
This would be in the early 80’s. I had spoken with him a few days earlier and it was on a follow up call to the factory for technical help that I learned of his death.

A very sad event, no matter what the cause.

There is some info available online which might be of interest to some about the crash in which Mike Watkins sadly lost his life while displaying G-BEFU at Barton in 1983. Click ... Click
