Default unemployment rate RANT

Am I the only person that thunks the unemployment rate us a joke?

I mean this as I have just started my own business and I am recruiting for people all over the uk, I paid £120 for loads of job adverts on monster, total jobs and reed + loads more smaller one. 2 week go by and I have only had 2 aplicants!! Like seriously, if people in the country go of there arses and looked for work they would find it! Its a disgrace to think some people are a leach to the hard working people! I feel really sorry for the old generation who worked all their lives to find out they will have to strugle on a pension when there are purposely unemployed people getting so much money they can afford games consoles and massive tvs. These items are a luxury for people who earn it in my eyes.

My company I use to work for had been hiring for 2 months before hand and only had 10 people apply for there job advert. Its a joke.

RANT over.

What job is it you do, and what jobs are you offering. I am unemployed myself and have been since 2009 through no fault of my own. I myself have been looking for work but have had no joy.

Might be worthwhile contacting the Resettlement Office on your local Navy base, and ask if they'd advertise the positions you have - it shouldn't cost you anything.

it all comes down to the sector of work for the amount of applicants, my area (IT) pretty much always has a minimum of 20 applications per job that I go for

Well, having looked at your advert I'm not entirely surprised at the lack of response, and please, this isn't a 'snipe', I'm just looking at it like a prospective employee.

Ok, I see what the position is and what the requirements are, but there is a definite lack of any other information regarding the business other than one brief sentence.

Also there is no information on the company or what it actually does, one can only really guess...?? And I cannot find anything on the web to help matters, other than some obscure companies in India etc.

And you are looking for a highly qualified person in what seems to be a specialised field and also will be Self-Employed. People of that calibre will think, right, you want a top-dog, but pay nothing except commission... I'm sorry but I've seen positions like this advertised and offering a substantial salary PLUS commission...

I know you will think I'm talking rubbish - but look at the response and say that again.

Would have to agree Bill!

The only person I'd work Self-Employed for is myself!

Reads like a call centre job to me, dressed up as a proper job! Just an observation.
