Default cleaning airco

An other simple question.

I am prepairing for the grand holiday trip to Italy in two weeeks. Therefore I want to have some things in top condition.
Bad smell is not a desired condition.

Looking in the manual, I cannot figure out how to get the bad smell out of the airco system.
I know there are bottles with a long hose on it, and you should just put them somewhere and spray on good luck.

But is there an other (not tooo difficult) way to make it nice clean ?
How are you doining this, and what is your experience ?

Regards,

Rene.

You can get a 'bomb' type that you place in the car and turn the heating on and close doors and windows - this always seems to be a messy way? Much easier to use the aerosol can with the long straw - remove the pollen filter and squirt into the housing, then also add to all the face vents, screen vents and lower vents

replace the pollen filter ,before refiting spray all over with oust ... this will get rid of the smell and it will kill any bacteria that may be in the vents,

The 'proper' place to inject bactericidal foam is up the condensate drains under the car. That way you get proper liquid contact with the evaporator matrix. It's the bacterial slime coating the matrix that causes it to smell like a sewer.

Agreed, and here's another method which I think I read on the product instructions. Select recirculation mode on the air con. controls and spray into the open port in the passenger (in the U.K.) footwell.
