Default Help! In A Pickle! *SORTED*

I fitted a new front h/brake cable, removing the centre console for better access. I can't see how to re-fit it. I get the gear stick through it's aperture and then the rear vent ducting sits hard on the handbrake so I can't get any more movement. Hints and tips very much appreciated. Can't find pictures or a how-to

Feeling a bit stoopid now, after slacking off the h/brake cable and pulling it to it's highest level the console goes over the h/brake first. Dunno how I missed that. How did I find out? The good old Haynes Manual
