With reference to Rich17865 post on sealing the rear screen clips #1 - can I ask (following through his excellent picture post) why is it not possible to remove the clips once the pin is removed? is it because the clip goes way under the screen?? In which case it could slide out without its securing pin. I need to do this job, but it seems that once all the prep has been done why not replace them and add silicone too? I am sure ive missed something.

After much delay! Ive done this job with the aid of the info above. I replaced 4 clips and one of the windscreen seating clips. The 5 in question were broken - not obvious at first but the square lug which goes through the bodywk breaks away from the clip, BUT its hidden by the finishing pins circular head!! The only give away is the movement mentioned earlier.

Haven't got around to trying this yet, as I used Captain Fishy’s Cure a couple of years ago, and no leaks since… until now, and it’s pouring through at the left hand side again. This time liberal applications of the Creeping Crack Cure didn’t work at all this time – and yes, the water’s definitely coming in through the screen, rather than light clusters etc.

Will try when the weather improves eventually… on thing I don’t quite grasp though… when you pull the pin out (I assume, from the pics, it comes right out? Not just partially?) does the flat clip kind of float about, ie not attached, but you can’t actually get it out?

Otherwise don't how you'd get underneath it with that flat blade...?

As a belt and braces, you could run a "half moon/circle" of sealant from a couple of inches either side of the clips, water is diverted around the clips and into the drain channel. I did this as a temporary measure on my last car until I could get enough dry weather to do the job properly. It stopped the clip leak for normal rain but car washing may not be protected against.

Rich (the OP) - I can't see the nine photos that were in your post 1 (link). Have you still got them?

Rich is no longer of this Parish I'm afraid, & Photobucket started charging for pics so most people ended their accounts with them

Ah, ok - thanks.

Yes, that Photobucket thing is nuisance - I think there's a way round it though (for Chrome).

I can't figure out post 1 without the pics.
