Rover 75 Written-Off
Hi All,
I have just had my Rover 75 2.0D Connoisseur written-off after being driven into on a roundabout. (I thought it was an SE but I can't be sure, how would I know?) I have a couple of questions if anyone feels inclined to help. I apologise if I have not given enough/the wrong information I like my car but I don't really know much about them. Question One Prior to the accident the car was in good condition in the interior, with the body work being OK, no dents but a small paint chip on the rear bumper and some minor parking scrapes on front and rear bumper corners. It had done 110k miles and was showing a little rust on the driver side door upright. The accident damage was all down the passenger side and needed a new front door-skin, and new sill with a small dent in the wing (adjacent to the door) and scrapes along the rear door and both wings. The insurance company are telling me it's beyond economic repair and offering me £2400. Does this seem like a reasonable offer and does it also sound as if it should be a write-off? Question Two. I am looking at replacing this with another Rover 75 possibly a CDT Connoisseur. The CDT seems to have some extras over and above mine such as Parking aids, Satnav etc, are there any other differences that I need to be aware of? I am particularly looking at a 2003 CDT with high mileage (120k) but otherwise in excellent condition for £2950. That looks like a pretty good price based on others I have seen. Does the price seem OK? I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest but I don't want to get ripped off either. |

Hi Steve, welcome to the club, sorry to hear of your bad news.
you don't mention the age of your 75? so unable to esimate cost. Unfortunately our cars are written off for what I consider small damage now. All down to value of car. Mileage on a diesel is not really a major factor, some diesels are now passing the 200k mark with no problems. Condition and PROVEN service history is paramount. I think Greeners on here was selling a rather nice diesel in your price range

£2500 from an insurance company for a X plated 75 is a good deal.
I doubt they would shift much if at all.

I had to fight my insurance company to give me £1500 for my x plate 2.0 classic SE, who is your insurance company?
