You're right - I didn't cut it and it's a perfect fit when tapped into place. Or it would be if the new seal didin't have a different design to the old one.

The new seal (without the felt finish) has a round beading under the flat section. The original seals (with the felt finish) don't have this beading and they fit the onto the trim panels better.

Also, the grey plastic kick cover - inboard of the stainless Rover one - no longer fits over the new door seal.

The lugs on the back of it aren't deep enough to reach the 3 pesky white nylon clips (even when the latter are unscrewed to raise them up). Who designs these ludicrous fixings - they're a complete joke.

Note to car manufacturers: Use a damned screw!

Simon, I can't comment on your slightly different door rubber, but for what it's worth, when I replaced mine with a new original (felt) type, I found I HAD to put in new Kick Plate Clips as a matter of course.

Those pesky clips are designed to fit once and once only.
You may find that getting some new ones will solve your problem.

Here are some I found for sale on fleabay at the moment

I have checked Rimmer Bros, they onmly have the rubber ones for an eye watering £68.21.

Part Number CFE102741
Description SEAL-FRONT DOOR SECONDARY
Retail Price £68.21 inc. VAT (£59.31 exc. VAT)

I prefer the felt one as original, do any of the listed suppliers do mail order?

Ordered and received the one from Sandicliffe, but it has no felt on it. The bag (labelled with correct number) had been opened and I am thinking a swap may have been done at some time. Before I complain, can someone double check the felt one is numbered CFE102740? Many thanks.

Tim,

I've just spoken to the parts department at County Garage Bodmin, and they have physically got the door rubber CFE102740 in front of them and can confirm it is the fabric version.

They have just the one left, but are willing to post it out once they've found out how much the carrage would be.

If your supplier can't furnish you with a replacement correct one, I'd get a refund and buy from County Garages.

http://www.thepart.com/en/search/det...ml?id=40237842

BTW according to the EPC the felt door rubber was for cars up until VIN number 304111 for saloons, and 305580 for tourers, after that it was the later part number CFE102741

Hope that helps
