Default our cars are made of strong stuff

well last night our lovely local youths decided that after a couple of wkd's it would be good fun to take the shortcut home over the roofs of the cars in the street,i ran out to hear them gigling in the distance ...what fun

good news is no damage to my car other than a few hand and foot prints unfortunatly the pug and the renault nxt door didn't fair so well the pug now has a rain trap on the roof and the renault a crease in the bonnet ....just goes to show our cars are made of real metal.

We live on a corner, and certain people were too lazy to walk round it using the pavement, so they used to enter our drive and cut across the lawn, which fell away by about a metre, then jump over our ranch fence into the adjacent road.

The miscreants were almost always teenage boys, but some older men did it as well, and at any time of day. Never women or young children, though. Unfortunately, they tried this when they were drunk (frequently), and our car (an Omega) got "knuckled" and kicked, as well as the ranch fence being kicked down, and pulled out of the ground on several occasions. Confronting, or shouting at them only made matters worse, of course.

When we bought the 75, more than four years ago, something had to be done. We paved over the entire lawn and drive, raising it by a metre in the area where the fence got vandalised. The whole area was then surrounded by a metre high brick wall, thereby making an unexpected two metre drop for anyone using our front garden as a shortcut. Also, the car was safely tucked into a corner, relatively out of harm's way.

Soon after the changes were made, we saw a couple of youths running across the drive and vaulting the wall, but they soon gave up when they realised that they could break an ankle into the bargain! Of course, had they done so, we would probably have been sued for not giving them due warning of a changed road layout.......nobody has any respect for other people's property nowadays.

I'd check you car very carefully. Mine was "run" over by some cretinous lout, causing two dents on the bonnet and two on the roof, although very shallow they showed up when inspected closely. Cost £200.00 for Dent Devils to repair. Fortunately the fellow did a first class job.

My parents live on a hill. one side we built a wall. 6ft high on the neighbours side and now it's 14ft our side.

Unfortunatly one night a bloke was running away from the police and jumped the wall. The reason I say unfortunately was the copper followed . Both were skewered on some bamboo canes we had supporting plants

Sorry to hear that. Hope the copper wasn't too badly hurt.
