Pictures would be great.
It's always good to know about potential alternatives.

The only downer I can see with one of these, is that if you want Satnav

Pioneer make their "hideaway" satnav unit ? . and want to stiff the buyer for around £300 just for this Nav box .. ouch.!

True, the add-on satnav is expensive, but I don't like a satnav at that low a level anyway, I'd rather have a seperate one on the windscreen more in my line of view. Plus, I'm more likely to change my satnav than I am my stereo!

I have the model below, the Pioneer 2200 and the sound quality is fantastic. You also get LW which you don't on the Chinese units.

Yeah the Sat nav add on is expensive but it makes up for that with the other features. The phone bluetooth works really well and Ive run the phone microphone up to where the roof lights are housed (inside housing so non visible). If anyone wants any more information then I can give more details if required

It does, just that MW and LW are clubbed together as one band marked AM.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Are you saying the Chinese units do LW? Coz when I checked their specs, they only started at 545khz. Or were you agreeing that the Pioneers did?

Default Parts Info

My 75 had the BMW wiring loom so the following is only if you have the same. The Pioneer radio supports ISO wiring so I think the newer 75's changed to ISO. You would still need to get the relevant steering wheel control lead - anyway

1. Autoleads PC-99-X32 - plus pioneer patch lead - £20
2. Double Din Facia - Connects2 - CT23Ro01 - £20
3. Universal brackets - Halfords £3
4. Aerial adaptor to ISO - Halfors £4

There are two wires to connect up using "Scotch Tag" type crimps (supplied with radio) which are Handbrake Input and Reverse Switch Input. Both wires can be found in the centre console so its relatively easy. I used the RAVE manual to find their location.

You have to cut the universal brackets up and then fold them to attach the double din facia to the radio. You can use the screws supplied with the radio to do this. There are lots of tapped holes down both sides of the radio so it quite easy. I can take my radio out and take some photos if you want.

I ran the microphone lead (supplied) up to the front roof light housing. It looks as though its designed for a microphone as ther are pre mouled holes in the plastic.

I have also run a phono lead under the passenger seat incase I want to run rear screens.

The unit can run an external sub woofer and has inputs on the rear for aux inputs e.g freeview etc.

For supporting the rear of the radio when its fitted in the console I simply moved the existing support to a position where it could support the pioneer unit.

I don't think it can support the multichanger fitted in the 75, but the manual says that it can support a multichanger if required. I don't see the point of this though as you can have loads of albums on a USB stick or memory card.

Hope this is of use
