non runner
Hi all, I may be being thick here but I'm having problems getting MG ZT V6 started. I purchased a second hand engine which I saw and heard running, after fitting I've tried for weeks to get it started but no joy. There is a spark but no fuel through the injectors I have put the clip on the fuel filter checked the fuel cut off switch. So my question is has anyone got anymore ideas please? Thanks

If there is no fuel at the Schraeder valve I'd diagnose it with Toaf. Some people say that if you listen when the key is turned you can hear the fuel pump but my ears seldom hear anything. But if you don't have Toaf then plan B would be to open the fuel pump hatch under the rear seat, note on the electrical connector the placement of a black (minus) and white/purple (plus) wires, disconnect the plug and apply power directly to the fuel pump, do you now get fuel / does the engine start?
Regards PS Use the advice at your own discretion, ensure a good connection to the pins, if using a battery charger connect first to the pump and then plug into the mains to avoid sparks. |

Why not check fuse and relay actuation first, if these are goosed, you can listen to everything you like composed by all the great composers the thing wont start with a blown fuel relay/fuse.

Thanks for the info and yes I've checked all the fuses and the fuel pump is working as I have good pressure up to the rear rail but I have noticed there is a slight drip of fuel from injector 6. Would this slight pressure drop have any bearing?
