Hi there, and welcome back!
I had a Rover 75 1.8, just replaced with a 75 1.8 turbo. I also have a MG ZT with the 2.5l V6 engine. As long as either type has had its engine looked after, regular servicing etc. you should be OK. By this age, the usual wear and tear features such as track rod ends, springs, even spring mounts can go.... shock absorbers. I had a power steering pump go on my Rover. But mostly it is the normal things to be aware of in a car this age, i.e. over 10 years old. Maybe get someone to come along and check out prospective cars with you? second pair of eyes often helps. Cheers, Alex.

Cambelts-they're due every 6 years/90k miles. A reasonably big job on the V6 that doesn't often get done due to the relative high cost against the car's value.

The viz motors will fail and the upper inlet manifold will have the rattle of death plus the thermostat is another weak area. All are age related But if you do your home work all should have been replace by now, so plenty of life left in them. If you by a members car all the above should of been replaced with new or replaced with updated parts.

Annual road tax for any late registration models (like mine) is a mear £520 per year.

Or just a tenner a week....sounds cheaper that way.
