Sorry to hear you're going through the mill. My wife went through a hell of a time when we lost both my parents within a couple of weeks of each other last year. We were both diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder and depression.

First thing I would suggest is go and see your GP, not necessarily for happy pills but your GP is the first step towards initiating counselling or what ever. I found the counselling thing a bit strange but it certainly did help my wife. Even if you don't like the idea of counselling talk to somebody about it but still see your GP.

If you want to keep this more private email me, just click on my screenname at the side of this and an email me option will appear.

Don't bottle the emotions. Whether it is anger, sadness or happiness.

Talk to people, share it. You may be surprised to hear that they probably have some considerable empathy.

Very best regards.

Hello sorry to hear of your loss... I lost my mum on the 2nd of January this year age 73, and my dad passed away in October 2012, I am having a difficult time dealing with it, I have a wonderful Wife and Family who are there to listen, but sometimes just want to be alone, It is difficult to know exactly what i want, I have visited the Doctor no tablets (didnt want any) but good advice was given and counselling offered just taking it a day at a time trying to keep busy, back at work now that helps a lot.

I agree, pop along and see your GP. Have a chat with him/her. Take it from there. Bereavement counselling is what you could benefit from. Anti-depressants are for someone who is suffering from a clinical depressive illness. Sometimes people need either a course of treatment or have to be on them for as long as it takes. If your GP picks up that you are suffering from a depression as well as a bereavement then it is something you might be offered. However it is not the first option to choose. Counselling - professional help is the way to go.

It is up to you to make the first step. Thanks for letting us know by the way

You must be going through a bad and difficult time with mixed feelings of anger, shock and sadness.

I won't write about my own experiences as that would not help you.

I am sorry for your loss.

It is still early days for you Graham and returning to work will help you put some order back into your life. It is very sad when we lose someone close to us. You are doing all the right things. As Nigeeb has said, remember the good times. Your parents would want you to get on with life. I know it is difficult. You will get there.

It is good to see you back on the forum.
