was it moored or trying to dock?

I'm no sailor but I would have thought trying to dock was not safe.

I have seen some damage done after a vehicle transporter was caught in a storm and something broke free. The noise must have been quite something.
The damaged vehicles although brand new, are scrap. One cab was ripped off or smashed flat, another lorry bent "in half". Vans look as if they had rolled over

I would give my eye teeth to live there. Unfortunately, it would have to be as a single man.

The missus showed that to me, I’m surprised it was allowed to leave Arran in the first place. Not very comfortable for the passengers.

That aside we have faired well with the weather in Ayrshire considering what they’re getting further south.

I believe it was arriving from Brodick, usually it either wouldn't sail or head further up the Clyde to Gourock

Been on that many, many times Simon but, never when it’s been like that
We’ve been lucky, (or unlucky, however you look at it), and never been stuck on the island yet.
We were there when the beast from the east hit a couple of years ago but, when we were due to sail back, normal service had resumed.

Just a short time after The Herald of Free Enterprise accident I was on a RoRo ferry from Pieta near Valletta (Malta) going over to Gozo. I was up on the top deck with a friend and when the ferry was passing the breakwater outside the harbour it was going from side to side just like the Arran ferry.
For a few minutes we were hanging onto the deck rails wondering whether to go back inside or not but things calmed down as the ship headed north and out of the side currents.

On arrival at Gozo a lorry had shed its load onto the car just two in front of mine and had to remain there until the ferry returned to Malta. The car was wrecked with broken glass everywhere.
