Got to grips with the new purchase - TT - wash, tar remover, iron x, wash again, clay, hand polish, clean out interior and condition leather. Needs some protection tomorrow if it’s dry, Fusso soft99 going on. Just wheels and hood left to do then !

My dad.

Triumph Herald: Broken chassis
Austin Metro: Complete failure of all the cars brakes
Rover 216SE: Cambelt failure and chronic rust disguised with filler
Ford Mondeo Mk1 (1995 M) Overheating, pinking and non standard ECU
Ford Mondeo Mk2 V6 (1997 P) Non functioning secondaries, accident involving a steel girder and an electrical short
Ford Mondeo Mk1 (1993 K) Constantly cutting out and a damaged sump
Ford Mondeo Mk3 (2003 03) Clutch, DMF and a cowboy garage
Ford Mondeo Mk4 (2008 08) Shock tops, track rod ends, wishbone bushes and over servoed brakes
Rover 75 Mk2 A.K.A Tarquin (2004 04) Dodgy MOT, Air con failure, rusty brake pipes and broken suspension (Car now belongs to me, and most problems now fixed)
Ford Mondeo Mk2 (1997 R) Clutch, rust, reverse gear could be engaged without using the lift up sequence
Ford Mondeo Mk3 (2006 06) Camshaft pulley, drop links, lower engine mount, keeps going into limp home mode, thirsty.

Not a great record TBH!

why does he like broken mondeos?

the 06 Mondeo, if it is a 2.0 diesel going to limp mode, it may be a small split in a boost pipe or turbo actuator sticking. I have been reading a lot of hard to trace limp mode issues on an XType forum. (I am on the forum because I had an XType which had an untraceable, in my tenure, limp problem, and have been lurking to try to find out about it even though it is long gone)

You forgot the one before the Triumph Herald (or maybe I never told you): 1957 Austin A35 with seized kingpins and a broken half-shaft

Spent all day running all my 00 gauge locomotives after keeping them storage for far too many years. Great news is the fact that they all work, even the sound ones.

I really should get my layout rebuilt as soon as I'm able.

Give this old thread a bump

Spent last weekend getting my son's 3 series ready for MOT, checked all 4 corners, wheels off, nothing to do, new oil and filter, new air filter and a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank. Made sure it had an Italian tune on the way to the test centre and made sure it was nice and clean inside and out. Passed with no advisories, same as the last 4 MOT's with previous owner, plus got a comment from the tester about what lovely condition it was in

Also had an hour spare to wash the ZT-T and start getting under the bonnet of the TT looking nice

No time for working on any of our Rovers either - too busy with a John Deere Gator non runner given to my son-in-law.

After checking out all the electrics and sketching up a wiring diagram for future reference found a dodgy connection at the battery and a fault with one of the rear motors.

All sorted now and it is in the hands of it's new owner our grandaughter. Only problem is she can't yet reach the loud pedal.

A temporary pedal block is in order.

This morning I tried to feed a wire from the driver's side to the fuse box on the passenger side by removing the radio and lower dash panels and feeding it through...………………….. I couldn't and therefore I didn't .

Back to the drawing board to make an ignition fed lead to feed a usb socket to charge my phone that's in a holder fixed to the o/s windscreen.
