Best to include your engine type in the panel on the left if you want help with the fast idle.

The diesels are drive by wire and the petrols aren't.

Can be a lot of movement at front exhaust, if rear box strap or rubbers have failed, easy first check and well worthwhile, you'll be surprised how much noise & vibration it will cause.

If one of the rear rubbers fails you get a lot more than a knocking going over humps, believe me, I've just had one go and the rattling is truly horrendous, even with the engine idling!

On the other hand, when the rubbers start getting tired they allow more exhaust movement which brings the cross plates that run under the system into range, what you are probably hearing is the system hitting the cross plates, had that as well and the knocking does travel along the system and appear to be coming from the gearbox area. New rubbers should cure the problem and as an added safeguard some have stuck a couple of washers between the cross plates and floor.

Regarding the idle, the revcounters aren't desperately accurate, my idle speed is set correctly but according to the revcounter it's about 150 rpm low. Idle speed can only be adjusted by a T4 computer, does it sound high?

if the idle is stuck high I would suspect a IACV sticking or vacuum leak

ok so quick look a rubber off the back box had come off Knocking has gone

high ideal haha:xmas-smiley-002: well went on a little trip out of town noticed the revs had dropped down under 1000

so im sure the only reason for this was auto choke? in a morning reving the car more

only other issue i have is a jerk when changing gear or taking foot of the acelerate pedal? could this be the engine/gearbox mount

as its a common fail
