Well done so far, the other way of looking at it is that you are not giving up anything you are giving yourself a pay rise!!! Keep it up.

Instead of something to be feared, stopping smoking is setting yourself free, setting yourself free from that train journey you can't smoke on, for me when I was in the house at night and my son was in bed my evening was ruled by how many cigarettes I had left. Being a bit of a snob, I absolutely detested being herded in a group with other unclean lepers outside pubs and clubs for the sake of a draw, smoking really is a humiliating experience and (sorry not sorry) I now partly look down my nose at people who smoke (especially in the company of children) and partly pity them.

You will NEVER regret sticking with this and seeing it through, freedom beckons, relish every moment!

You're absolutely right about being like a 2nd class citizen if you smoke, there was a day last year that stuck in my mind, I was taking dad for a hospital appointment & as I turned into the hospital grounds there were 4 guys, two in pyjamas smoking in the rain, there is a smoking ban on the entire hospital grounds so these guys had to walk 200 yards to have a ciggy in the pouring rain

I gave up smoking three years ago and I switched to vaping, I do find that I vape more than I used to smoke, but as I make my own e juices and coils its a dam sight cheaper, and I know what's in the juices. I save about £20 a week and spend maybe £3 a week on juices and coil set up. I have cut down to 6mg nicotine and plan to give up vaping in the next few months, as when I cut down to 0% nicotine there's not much point of doing it any more. Doing it the way I've done it I haven't felt sick or had any ill effects to giving up.

Congratulations Steve on getting through the first week. I had to use nicotine gum and hypnosis. That was 10 years ago. The hypnotist told me that I was to feel ashamed of myself, every time I lit up and that I would have to smoke in secret as society would hate me for smoking and being the scum of the earth. I had one hypnosis session. What with those affirmations from the hypnotist and the gum, both helped me stop. Not everyone is like Flying Banana and can just stop, well done Bob in stopping

Keep posting Steve. Let us know how it is going. I gave up for health reasons and not to give my wife cancer from secondary smoke.

It's not easy, my incentive is money at over £8 for 19(which they never actually told anyone) it's £56 a week
£224 a month
£2688 a year
Think of what that could buy you. Not to mention your health benefits.

When the dry cough starts, and it almost always does. Just bear with it - it will eventually go away again: just take some time. It's a sign that your lungs and throat are starting to recover and eject some of the smoking residue.

Keep it up - you're doing great!
