I know nothing about the intricacies of auto boxes or the manufacture of fluid for them but surely if the required standard is N402 (JF403E & JF506E) then anything that meets that standard can be used? Otherwise where is the point of the standard?

HI Russ. Thank you for posting yes I also like to shop around, but being as I have ordered the oil and got a different one to my order. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Comma...L/372411991616 I am really trying to find out could if it can be used in our cars or do I return it and purchase what as been highlighted by Paul & John, in the link below. If the oil that as been sent me is ok to use I will use that as a winter change or as a flushing oil and add this one below come spring https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATF-N402-...52~O:rk:1:pf:0 I have sent them a message asking the same question also about returning but at no cost to me hopefully.

As I may have mentioned before my Auto has its fluid changed regularly at a Long established EX MGR Dealer and they use Millers Oils .
this is whats in my old bus .. Millermatic ATF SP III-WS And its only managed 151k so far without a problem .. theres No mention of N402 in the specs now , but lots of other cross references . Chris

I managed to get a refund on one of the oils, the other one is here and should have been collected yesterday at 14.00pm but no one turned up, so I am dropping it of at local store of theirs tomorrow. I ordered the ATF 402 oil Paul linked to on Saturday night about 11.45pm, it got delivered yesterday morning 10.05am when I got back home checked the box and all was ok, so gearbox oil change for me sometime this weekend or start of the next week, thank you lads for the heads up.

the oil story is a huge scam.
I ran around looking for oil for my V8. This is a Ford automatic, which is supposed to use a Mercon grade oil. The local Ford dealers don't even use that! they fill with a Dexron grade oil. Then I started to check and found a Castrol ATF that claims to be Dexron AND Mercon compatible!! That, plus the fact that Jatco, the supplier of Rover boxes, is a Nissan supplier where special oils are not specified! makes me say: Anyone thinking Rover's autoboxes are different from Nissan's are dreaming. Thus any specific oil requirements for the Rovers is just hype. I have therefore just used good quality Dexron in my rovers for the last 4 years, no problems, whatsoever. Go figure! https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united...luids/atf.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._transmissions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jatco_JF506E_transmission

Hi Steve. I have looked on Comma’s website, and it is compatible with atf N402. Say no more.

Wonder why they bother. Their own INVECS II box is a masterpiece.
