Default Front wheel bearing replacement, grease or no grease ?

Hi all,

I've just read the wheel bearing how to, and there is no mention of packing it with bearing grease etc.
I will be changing mine soon and would like to know, should the new bearing be greased ?

thanks.

Pete.

If you can remove the metal dust shield and the rubber one containing the magnets for the ABS, then you will be able to grease them.

However I suspect this to be impossible, so don't bother and fit it as it comes out of the box

However, If somebody has a bearing that needs grease never fill it more than half full.-------

Thats because it can cause a heat sink to take place. (Overheat)

Just done mine and the only grease I used was a light smear inside the hub and around the edge of the bearing to make it easier to press in.👍

The old tapered bearings required grease but this is the first time I’ve seen anyone ask about greasing a sealed bearing. As Brian stated you can remove the shields but you’ll damage them in the process. If it has been rubber shields you can pop them and put back in but I’ve never heard of anyone doing that

Nobody has ever asked this question before ? :-(

I wanted to be 100% sure that I was doing it right.
