Passed car test first time January 1965 in an Austin A40 farina, taught by my Father . Passed Bike test at same centre in Birmingham 2 weeks later , but was the second time around . Waiting period for a test was 3 or 4 months , peak of the post 2nd WW baby boom! One bike test I had to cancel due to snow, so heavy I couldn't see where I was going, but they did allow a rebook at no cost.

A 1987 Rover 216 EFI belonging to my instructor. My own car was a 1974 Renault 5L with the gears on the dash. I still have it😀😀

Long before I had my license if it was wet I used to drive around at work in one of the many Sherpa minibuses BR owned! Used to have to go down to the diesel shed several times a shift to check what locos were there and that were parked in the correct order for departure, not much fun in the peeing rain!
