Diesel MPG when towing?
As in the title really, what sort of mpg do diesel owners get whilst towing? Preferably from owners of manual CDTi’s, and what weight is that towing?
Managed to do 300 miles last week from Corby to Newquay, left early so had a clear steady run, and when I filled up it worked out at around 29mpg, which was better than I’d expected! |

I towed a Lunar Quasar 525 caravan with 2 bikes on the car roof, awning and a weeks food and got about 23 according to the trip. I was also traveling North. On the way home we were of course lighter and going south but was getting about 29 I think.
Towing at 60 according to sat nav which is about 65 on the speedo I have a remapped CDT manual manual |

We have a Gobur Carousel folding caravan MPTLM approx 925kg. Did a brim to brim test on the last trip of approx 360 miles (mainly motorway & dual carriage way) and got 38mpg.

Thanks all, seems mine is about average for the weight. I was expecting it to be much worse based on previous shorter journeys.
Haven't filled up but mpg will be worse on the return journey, satnav sent me all through the Cotswolds and up the Fosse way due to traffic on my usual route. Added a fair few miles to the journey, plus a few steep hills. |
