Default ZT 160+ or 190+

Hi all, going to look at a 2.5 160+ tomorrow with 98000 mile on the clock on a 51 plate in black only prob is dont think belts have been done but seller says that most owners dont replace cam belts as they dont fail!? also no service history.I've also got to look at a 2.5 190+ with some service history full sat nav and tv with 67000 mile on clock but again not sure about cam belts, any idea which one would be the SAFER bet? i know nobody has a crystal ball but is there ant difference on the two engines? is a 190 just a 160 remapped?
Many thanks

for a start if the first buyer tells you that about most owners not replacing them, then walk away.

190 has different camshafts etc.

Its basically the same set up. As most 190+ owners know its the best engine, get the belts done and away you go!
Power and power and smile.:xmas-smiley-013:
The oil burner people on here constantly try to up their power, chips remaps and all sorts but wont admit to the ZT superior.
Buy an oil burner and run it for mpg fine but why bother to catch up...
Those 1.8T owners are at it again big changes and new this and that! Us 190 owners don't see the need to increase the superior power as we are happy.

Only kidding everyone!

All engines have something to offer so buy the car get it sorted and it puts your mind to rest.

Default 160 or 190

KV6 190 also has Bigger front brakes 325mm, compared to KV6 160 which has 284mm, 160 can only be re-mapped to 177, and as has been mentioned different cams as well.

Belts do need to be done at 90,000 miles or 6 years which ever comes first. I would go for the 190 which has some service history if I were you.

On a serious note, my 190 did 115k miles and no belt change from new. The tensioner was shot and the main belt was within days of snapping but the two rear MG Rover belts were like brand new! Get the water pump done at the same time and after pop along to a nano meet to get your VIS motors checked.:xmas-smiley-013:

Rear exhaust specially designed for the extra note.

Ha ha! More like if you try and increase the power, it will blow up!
There is not much I know you CAN do to the V6 to increase power safely.
So let us pretend we are not interested!

An old thread, I know, but this took me back to when I was first looking for a 190.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-MGF-ZT-...item25a217f6f4

I obviously can't say for sure, but this looks very much like a V6 160 with a 190 badge stuck on, as it should normally sit above the flag.
