Early Double Din Problems
I have an early Double Din Unit from Sean, that has started to become irritating....
Basically 99% of the time the thing is perfect and does what I want it to... but whenever the car is started first thing in the morning AND the temperature is below zero degrees C (thats the key I think) the unit looses all its memory. It ONLY looses its memory when it is below zero and its the first time to start the car... Sometimes I can go for weeks without any issues, because its not freezing when I start the car. First thought was the FBH (Car is a CDT Tourer on a 51 plate if that makes any difference) but the PCB has recently been repaired by French Mike... Its obviously not the wiring round the wrong way as it works fine if the temperature is in the plus... So, I'm stumped... what would cause loss of memory from the DD unit when its that cold? (I'm sure this never happened with the Harmony unit before hand) Any ideas or suggestions greately welcome... Last edited by Thorfin; 17th January 2012 at 07:14.. |

By way of a test, could you attach a second battery with jump leads or maybe give your battery a full overnight charge ready for a really cold morning?

I would tend to agree with Harry...
Might be an idea to have the battery checked out

I see the point with regards main battery being likely culprit, how would I even begin to test this? The battery is less than a year old too...
