Went off chamois years ago.
These days I have a huge waffle weave drying towel kept specially for the job, it blots up water faster than anything I have used before. Unlike a chamois the water is blotted off, no need to wipe as that is what gives the swirl marks. Not saying my car doesn't have swirl marks mind..most do tbh
