Well I'm not an expert but I would have thought that with the enthusiasm about, they would have focused on the Flying Scotsman and not the lead engine, and why was that there? or was the reborn beastie not "driving". In this video the Flying Scotsman appears to have it's authentic paint scheme already applied.

Last time I saw the Flying Scotsman was about 10 or 11 years ago at Ashbourne country show. They had transported the loco on a low loader to the show ground where, a length of track had been laid so the Scotsman could be shown as a static display.
What was unusual was the fact that the show ground was at least 10 miles from the nearest operating railway line, it was quite odd to see such a monster perched in a field in the middle of nowhere I think it was owned by a Dr Marchington at the time, who lived in the next village to ours, and it was a non runner. I seem to remember he sold it for 3 million as a non runner Good to see it back in action.

No 4472 was built in Doncaster for the LNER and was on the London Edinburgh designed by Nigel Gresley a innovative engineer.
He also designed Mallard which still holds the world steam record at 125.88 mph. If Gresley was with us today he would be designing cutting ege engines n ot harking back to past achievements Last edited by Woof25; 8th January 2016 at 18:48.. |
