Thanks for all the replies. My headlights are the same as T-Cut's. My bulbs would appear to be "normal" halogen (thank goodness) or maybe even xenon bulbs and with the nearside bulb now correctly seated they even give out both the same amount of illumination!

regards,

David

There's one picture there showing an aluminium 'box' bearing a yellow warning sticker. I'd say that's the igniter, so these lamps are almost certainly Xenon HID units.

[EDIT: Pity we can't read the white label attached to the black casing. It looks very similar to mine, so I need to get further into the outer lamps to see if the igniter is present. What a purlarver to identify yer lamps!]

Thanks,
TC

I know that if you have the HID lamps its not a simple DIY job like changing the standard Bulb!

That's coz Xenon HID lamps don't actually have a bulb in the conventional terminology of the word "bulb"...

"It's a bulb, Jim... but not as we know it...."

I was only teasing...

Re: Specialist job... Yes, this is important as the HID ballasts pump out over 20,000 volts when primed so it's not something one should take light-heartidly. We don't want anyone getting hurt...

It doesn't seem to have been mentioned, but the genuine xenons have "Xenon Technology" imprinted inside the headlamp glass, so you can see it as soon as you look at the front of the car.
