Default Help needed - non starting Diesel in Derby area

Hi everyone. As per the title. Non starting '02 plate CDTi in Derby.

Car driving fine until yesterday morning when it wouldn't start. Got AA out who eventually got it started but was smoking a lot and engine very rough. Car not driveable and he was unable to fix it. Won't start back up. He said possible fuel injector issue. This is the report he mailed me:

Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control 1 - 73L / Diesel EDC 15C40201_08 - Unknown fault. Error Message : .0203_08 - Unknown fault. Error Message : .13573 - Glow duration control. Error Message : Glow unit faulty. Member reported the engine not starting. Checked engine oil and coolant levels. Found not relevant fault codes. Checked engine speed and fuel pressure - ok. Got engine started and it is misfiring and smoke from exhaust. Suspect a fuel injector faulty. -

I have no mechancial ability and really need the car back up and running. Is anyone willing to travel to me and diagnose/fix this please? Had a fantastic response to a post like this previously where forum member Lee T came out and replaced my alternator for me just before Christmas.

Thanks in advance .

Yes, I have used them before also. Dave is actually based in Derby too but already contacted him/Kayleigh and they are fully booked up till December with a backlog of work at the garage too unfortunately..

Hello there, definitely sounds like an injector down - I had similar in my ZT-T when a duff injector literally poured fuel into cylinder 2.
Very smoky, very rough running and wouldn't usually start (as fuel rail pressure too low due to this injector).

Be careful, as if enough diesel is flooding in it could potentially hydro-lock the engine (although admittedly it'd have to be a lot for this)

Thanks for this.

Is this an easy/cheap fix?

Yes, this has definitely been wet......the giveaway is the rusty screw in the casing, and the tide mark

I'm sure I can do something with it though

The repair stage, which is now complete.

Steve's ECM is currently coded to the ZT as we speak for a bit of post repair testing
