HowTo: http://www.mcgard.com/index.php/cust...ng-information But you could try ringing round a few tyre depots to see if one has the McGard master set. Alternatively, watch a few of the YouTube videos on how to remove McGards the brutal way. The usual advice is once they're off, dump them for a standard wheel bolt. TC |

looks like the brutal way then.... from what ive researched on the internet, the best way seems to be hammering on a socket and try loosening it that way. Ive emailed That mob in Germany so will see if they respond.

I might have just struck lucky with them but they matched the key in needed from an emailed photo from my iPhone and after I had emailed them a photo of my V5 for security purposes I received the three keys in a matter of days. Once off all the locking bolts went in the bin

Mick. When you get them off bin them. Locking wheel nuts can be a pain just like you are experiencing now. If you are putting them back on I'm sure I have 4 in my she'd you can have.

Might ake u up on that Glenn thanks
a small update... So the Mrs comes in from work tonight at 9.30 and asks how i got on getting new tyres etc, she has a vested interest as she "reckons" the new 75 is hers (lets see how that pans out) Anyway tells her the story they couldnt get it etc.. shes one of these people who thinks "ill get it" My mrs is 4 feet 11 and weighs around 8 stone, i explained that these burly guys at Tyre centre couldnt get it, shes no chance...... how wrong was I!!! she got one off.. but this beggars the question.. WTF were they doing???? is this most likely due to them using these air gun thingys? |

Mick, fit the locking key to the bolt fit a 4" extension to the socket and place an axle stand under the extension.
Then give the end of the bar and extension a sharp tap with a club hammer. Now with someone providing pressure applied to the end of the extension/bar pushing it against the bolt, try tightening, then slackening the bolt. If this works, replace the McGards with standard wheel bolts Brian |

Just a thought, bin the bolts but keep the keys, they might help another member in the future.

More than likely that is how they get damaged in the first place. Locking wheel nuts will last the liftetime of the car if you torque them up correctly and never let a rattle gun anywhere near them. Have thrown the ones away on the Auto as they were damaged but on my Manual I swap them over before having tyres changed. |
