Thanks, I've checked the stats, the van has a 1470kg MTPLM, and a ZT-T CDTi will handle upto 1600kgs. But, we don't hit that loading for 6, I'll only ever load it for 4, with a 260kg payload, stick the awning in the boot and we'll be fine, as the noseweight is only 75 kgs, but the car can handle 100. Interestingly, all the aftermarket detachable swan neck towbars I can find are rated for 90kgs.

-To get an idea, it's 24 feet long and white-
Known in the trade as a mobile geriatric ward.... No, each to his own. some people have a better standard in their van/motor home, than they have -at home- For me there are 2 types of -caravanning- The tourers who like it small and handy. Get about easy. To explore the world. Then those who have a van instead of a summer cottage. Like to tour myself. Dinky and ingenious. The large vans are just too cumbersome on the roads and are more hard work than I want. Although a big van in a secluded country location would be good. The small wheel thing is just heat/friction generated in proportion to the total volume of the tyre. The wheel bearing go like the clappers, also causing a lot of heat. My old vans have the old Austin A40 Devon type rims. 16 inch. Roll very well and roll over bumps etc much better than smaller wheels. A tear drop doesn´t weigh much so this type of problem is kept to a minimum. |

We tend to go to very quiet sites with the kids, usually private run ones. Once a year we go to one of the big ones, so the kids can have a nice time. Just booked 4 nights over Easter, at Porthmadog Haven, Super Pitch with mains water and drainage. £40 for the 4 of us, which is very good. Site prices have gone up a lot over the last couple of years, and with awning, leccy and kids, we sometimes end up paying £40 per night!.

A camping section would be fun. Not just vans. The whole caravan holiday bit. We took our -egg- over last summer. Swedish, fibreglass, made between 62 and 65. About 80 made. Ours is from 65. Name: Carmen. It´s (still) being refurbed outside of Norwich But Stuart at GB Plastics will do a superb job on it I´m sure
Here´s the thread from the tour: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ight=2010+tour |

10" wheels are the biggest that will fit on my teardrop due to the shape of the wheel arches. Looks much nicer than it did on the 8"s though. I have one spare, but will prob borrow another before we go. Thanks again for your advice. I would love to see a camping/caravaning section on the forum |
