Just Bats.

A Vampire Bat, the leader had arrived back at his roost, exhausted and covered in blood.
He wanted nothing other than to sleep.
The rest of the colony kept clamouring for info as to where he had got his blood. Hour after hour he struggled to rest.
The Leader Bat finally gave way, and said follow me.
They all followed across the landscape until they reached a large forest.
The leader stopped and said "can you see that huge Elm across there" the frenzied colony all said yes.
I didn't, said the Leader, hence my bloodied appearanace - I bust my nose!

Gone.
