Glad there’s no harm done Steve it could of been a lot worse. This is a common problem with the Fiat 500’s

I have actually brought the V6 Connie down the auto box several times, just to see what kind of effect it has in slowing you down. It is effective but you have to be careful of the revs, and you have to press the button in each time you change gear.it is a bit like when I was at work driving a Volvo 8 wheeler rigid, two speed axle. Changing gear and flicking the two speed axle switch. If you have an auto, I would try it out before you need it.

Hi Jon.
yes the braking system is servo assisted duel-circuit type, so if an hydraulic failure happens in one circuit you still get full braking force at two wheels.

I would not like to have teste at speed though to be honest, because even when i was crawling home the brakes did not feel great, you have to really allow for stopping at junctions well before you get there, and keep your distance from the car in front.

On my was home there were two cars right up my rear end & still had to over take i know they would not know what situation i was in but, if someone is going a 10-15mph in a 30mph area you must at least think Ho something is wrong, but that great thing that most people do not have would have to come into play.

Common sense.

Agree the 75 has a dual feed braking system, LR + RF / LF + RR, but my recent experience with a pin-hole leak didn’t give me the impression of full braking force on the other circuit. The pedal went almost to the floor, and the ABS cut in. I got nervously home but my impression was that there was almost zero braking force and I used the manual gears as much as possible, the reservoir was just about empty.
Good luck with the brake pipes to hose connections, I couldn’t release the coupling at the back, cut the pipe off to fit the Irwins, Irwins defeated! Only by moving everything to the bench was I able to release the joint.

Good luck

A proper mechanical handbrake can help a lot too.

The parkbrake recently failed on the Jag. Thankfully whilst on the drive as it being one of these electronic things it was stuck solid.

New module and motor. A modest ouch.

Progress eh?

Hi Mike.
I tried the hose connector into the caliper yesterday and got it to move a little so sprayed it and left it to soak until later today. i will have ago at the back connection today also weather permitting.

It seem the connector as rusted inside the rubber and the pressure as blown it off the rest of the joint photo below.

2

I have the joint soaking in plus gas.
3

I also cut the hose off and clamped it then added a blank into the hose, inside these hoses are plastic tubing so that is why it's not good to clamp the hose if you ever have to removed the caliper as it will damage the tubing.

Default Bleed Nipple trouble

I managed to part the brake hose connector from the brake line in the front wheel arch what a nightmare.

Remove the clip and soaked the joint over night.
1

Two mole grips used.
2

Once cracked the locked thread used brake spanner & mole grips.
3

Success at last.
4

New hose temporary fitted until the clips arrive Friday.

So one step forward then three backwards.

Bleed nipple sheared off.
5

You can guess what i am doing tomorrow or the weekend.
