Default As new IPK?

Thanks for the offer Brian, appreciated, very nice message centre but I’ve already PM’d Ric-sta. There’s no point in him even trying to repair mine as I doubt if even he has seen one quite as bad.

If however he’s unable to fix a line free one, or thinks yours would be a more reliable long term repair, could you leave the offer open as a plan B. Quite willing to spend some money to get the best repair available, and of course cover all costs.

I took my other V6 into my garage yesterday for some ABS issues and it won’t be until they’re fixed that I’ll be able to post the IPK off and then that car can rest.

Actually my other V6 has an IPK from a RHD car with both MPH / KM but as I tend to use the digital speedometer it hasn’t bothered me.

Thanks again

Default Those "Err" and "PPP.P" codes.

Ah yes! My KV6 auto Highline occasionally showe the annoying “Err” warning.

May I mention, for the benefit of others, like me (still learning) that MG Rover acknowledged the error code problem in one of their bulletins.

This “Err” or “PPP.P” in the trip recorder segment of the earlier highline instrument packs is due to a software design fault – “occurs only intermittently”. If owners complained the IPK was replaced under warranty with a different IPK part number.

Worth noting Rover’s instruction that “before instrument pack can be replaced, the vehicle data requires to be downloaded with T4/Testbook and transferred to the new instrument pack. Failure to do this will result in the ZCS data being lost” “if the vehicle is only part way to the next service, re-setting the service interval counter may also prove difficult”.

Brian is that a completely line free instrument cluster you have? If so that may be the better option for Mike, as all of the ones I have here have some lines on them which I'd have to deline for Mike. An IPK which doesn't have any lines on it to start with will be better.

If you have time Mike could send his cluster to you to have the eeprom put onto the cluster you have, or alternatively Mike could purchase it from you and have it sent to me to have the eeprom swapped if you don't have time

Thanks for the reply / PM.

Either option is fine by me, as you have seen mine is in a shocking state.

Received a message yesterday from Rick with a picture of my now repaired IPK, quite a difference, very pleased. Got a feeling that he might get a few more enquires from Sweden …

Many thanks

Mmmhh... Looking at the lower dials I think we might offer Rick comfy & thick blanket & gloves to help him working safely in his office!
Or maybe testing extreme cold to secure the IPK for Sweden?

Ages since we had such low temperatures as -30c, it’s only -11c at the moment but good to know that Rick does such a thorough job of stress testing.

Posted a picture of the “new” IPK on our local forum, fair amount of interest, seems that we are far from being the only ones with bad screens.

Regards

I thought these screens failed, not with lines as in the picture, but with gaps, i.e vertical lines that remain dark (the screen background colour). The absense of parts of the letters make it difficult to read. Are these screens repairable?

Here we had -15° back to 2003. But -5° to -10° aren't uncommon either for one only night or sometimes for a few ones.
I'm just hoping that my new IPK recently fitted by Rick will be far better than the original one & will last longer.
I assume that nearly every 75 is affected by that ghastly disease.
Regards.
