Effective passenger side heating
Hi I have a 2005 1.8t and the heater on the passenger side is not getting hot. I have been told it could be due to a partially blocked heater matrix or faulty sensors or a motor controlling the heat flap. Must say the running temperature of the car is fine and the heat on the drivers side is good. I have tried opening the bleed valve on the pipe from the radiator and an not get fluid to come out. Does this indicate air in the system which is causing the problem? Would very much welcome ideas. Thanks

Heating problem
Yes I've had a reconditioned head fitted. That was after I had the head gasket replaced without skimming the head. An expensive mistake! Now the car runs fine apart from the passenger having no heat!!

Try a cooling system air bleed. Lots of info in the How-To's.

Here it is now. You can do it yourself if you're reasonably handy with the spanners. Simon

If the drivers side is warm and the passenger side cold, then the most likely cause is a silted up heater matrix.
It is not possible to get an air pocket in the heater matrix alone, if it has flow to the drivers side, then the only explanation for the passenger side being cold is for the matrix to be blocked. Given the car is an 1800, has there been any "magic potions" added to the coolant in the past? Brian |

Many thanks for all your help! There now seems no air lock so maybe a blocked matrix is the problem. Again, thanks for the advice.

A head change could, maybe, dislodge some sludge which seems to be happy when arriving in the matrix to decide to live there. ---Lol. |
