Hmm. trying to check the number plate. Looks like KP02 ERJ. A quick check reveals this to be a silver MGZTT which passed its last MOT in 2009 with some advisories. Mileage then was 27930.

Suspect MOT has lapsed (advertiser stays silent on this) but if it has stood idle for the best art of 10 years, it will likely need a shedload of work (and £££££) to get this roadworthy.

Not sure it is a bargain?

Did you read the ad?

Problem is it has stood in my garage for years and now won’t start turns over but doesn’t start. It’s in really good condition.

Yes, I did read the ad. The point I made was that the car had stood for the best part of 10 years and the last MOT was in 2009 (both facts not disclosed in the ad). Ergo, not likely to be the bargain that the OP thought it might have been.

Have you anything useful to add to the thread?

If I had the room and time I'd snap it up - turns over but doesn't start probably just stale petrol if it's been sitting that long. Would have to look like it's been kept in fairly dry storage but with 30k on the clock the engine is just run in - surely with a bit of haggle this is a bargain for someone ??

I'm always weary of really short ads on places like Gumtree & Marketplace tho - surely there's more to say or does the seller not want to say too much??

I spoke to the owner of this car at the Raby Castle meet last year, he didn't want to have a T4 session to pinpoint the problem, but seemed to think that even as a non runner the car was worth £2000

It seems his price expectation of what it's worth has been revised

Provided it's good underneath, it may well be worth the asking price as a donor car

I was helping get a Mondeo going earlier in the year with a similar history, 15 years in a garage with less than a years mileage on it. The new owner could not get it going and had tried various things. In the end it turned out to be a stuck fuel pump relay. A new relay and some new petrol it ran great with a little smoke until the temp gauge came up. We pumped the tyres up but they were flat spotted, 4 new tyres and a look over and it was in the next day having an MOT and surprisingly it passed with just an advise for poor aim on washer jets or something similar.

It was sold a few weeks later on the bay for about 5 times what a Mondeo normally gets.

Why a donor car? If it's good underneath then surely it can't be mission impossible to get it running again? Even with a grand spent recommissioning it would still be a bargain buy if the overall condition reflects the low mileage.
