How about a Silverline 656621 18mm flexible head spanner, such as item 182364821115 on eBay.

Is a modified aviation spanner essentially a long ring spanner with a bend to improve access ?

Is there enough access space for a 18mm 1/2" socket, and a universal joint ?

Do you have pictures Arctic please ?
How too here Mark

I understand the bolts need to be tightened to 150Nm torque.

Hi Mark.
Yes Aviation spanner with a bend heated into it, here are a few photos below you can also use a couple of ring spanner and join them with a sump bolt remover.

Brian's how to is good and easy to follow

Is there enough space to use a 24" 1/2" power breaker bar (such as item 223122345482 on eBay) and 18mm socket to crack loose the bolts ?

This can work on the front bolt, particularly if you undo the anti-roll bush clamp, and the front drop link lower nut so that the ARB can be swung out of the way. The rear bolt is trickier, and it will depend on the angle of the head on your breaker bar - I tend to use a swivel head ratchet and 1/2 inch drive 18mm socket with a long handle to undo/tighten the rear bolts.

Doing the rear lower arm bushes is a strong case for getting yourself a 2 or 4 post lift - I always hate this job with the car on ramps or stands, and don't believe anyone who tells you it is an easy job !

As mentioned, you need a breaker bar knuckle that will bend GREATER THAN 90°

I used a 3/8th's one. (My 1/2 wouldn't bend greater than 90°) and then put a scaffold bar on the end of it for leverage.

Once loose, the threads were perfectly clean on mine, and dead easy to unwind. (not enough resistance for a ratchet to really work - I think I had to hold bolt head with finger to provide resistance) (It's a blind hole I think you call it) so no where dirt can get in to rust threads.

Yes I loosened the 10mm bolts for the anti roll bar mounts. using 1/4" drive tools. Both normal and deep 1/4" sockets used/required.
I managed to leave the bolts in on passenger side, just loosened.
Drivers side the bolts had to come out.

I’ve ordered the Powerflex bushes. Part no. PFF63-602.
£80 including delivery. Does both sides and will hopefully outlive the car.
I just don’t think there are any quality ones out there anymore. Sad but possibly true.

FYI I understand from Silverline that the above 656621 spanner is rated to 230Nm.
