You need the main ECU, EWS and transponder(s) from a matching vehicle: engine size, fuel type & gearbox. Something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-ZTT-MG...9VYm:rk:1:pf:0

The seller doesn’t specify auto or manual which I believe is important. All the other parts supplied are not needed but good to have as spares. Might be a cheaper option than the one you’re considering.

Good luck
Every time I come across this my T4 has a hissy fit with lots and lots of vin mismatch errors, not only that but you may end up with a different tune level, i’ve seen people dropping down to 115bhp
As Brian said not exactly the best idea

Putting in a foreign EWS can cause all sorts of problems as unless it's from a car with the same spec it can corrupt the ZCS coding to that of the donor car.

For example you could end up with a Airbag light on that is on because the configuration is different to what is fitted. There's quite a few others too.

Unfortunately putting it on T4 to correct the problem may not work as it won't complete reconfiguration because of mismatched Vins

The only way to then correctly configure the car is to note any ECU'S that have retained the original coding then using other equipment and programmes change the Vin in the EWS and EMS ECUs and then enter the original coding.

We don't say it's a bad idea for nothing

Russ

If the OP comes back he’ll be able to see MarinaBrian’s offer of help and review his options which for many of us outside UK are limited. Prior to Brian’s helpful post these options weren’t many especially since Phil T4’s departure and Brian’s “retirement”.

I count myself fortunate as I have TOAF which I believe doesn't depend on the same coding and the chances of any of my cars meeting a T4 are about the same as me winning the EuroMillions lottery without even a ticket.

But thanks for your input.

Hi Brian,

thank's for the offer but how can I be sure that the problem is actualy caused by the EWS and/or DDE? I'm actualy working for BMW Group Belux and my colleagues know a company how can repair the EWS and DDE modules. I think the company is based in the Netherlands and they give lifetime warranty. Tommorrow I'm back at work and will check the companies name and post the adress.

Br,
Kristof

Hi Kristof, I remanufacture DDE4 units for XPart in the UK, I'm fairly sure even if everything was totally kaput, I could sort this out for you

Default Problem found

Hi,
I just got a call from an official Landrover garage where I sent my Rover for repair. They found the problem, due to waterinfiltration the EWS3 module was corroded and needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if it is possible to recode a blank or coded EWS module?
Since I work for BMW Belux I can order a new one for about € 100... But I need to be sure if it's possible, otherwise it's just money for nothing....

Thank's for any help!

EWS3 is no longer available, and if ordered you would end up with an EWS4.3.

No problem if you have a T4 to copy the ZCS coding over and pair the immobilisation, however I suspect that not to be the case.

Yes I can sort it out, but I'd need your EWS3 and DDE4 to do the job
