Absolutely - they'll have been much, much less. I don't understand it at all!

Still, we all know they're the best out there - I'll do some digging and try to get as many as I can, as I'm sure everyone (myself included) would rather splash out once and get many more years of use.

Manufacturers make a massive mark up on spares.

We used to make throttle position sensors for Ford back in the 80’s, Ford paid £4.50 for them from the manufacturer (that was us), they retailed as a Ford genuine spare part at £124.75 each.

That’s some mark up !

I have my pair stored away for when the current ones fail - as experience tells me they inevitably will!

I have examined the Genuine set Matt provided and the quality compared to the pattern parts is clear.

There is a bit of surface “patina” from a decade or so of storage but what the heck! - when fitted it will get all sorts of road mess thrown at them!

I would say these are well worth it given that my ZTT had the original set on when I bought it at 97k miles but these were replaced due to perished rubber covers

If only I had known then what I know now!! because since purchase four years the ZTT is now on its fourth set.

But I now have true OE set ready to go on😃

Fitting original parts is all well and good however the rubber parts are 13 years old!

Something that I wouldn't do.

I had a new droplink fitted to my ZTT last month and they were very reasonable and not rubbish off ebay.

I wouldn’t worry about the rubbers - they’re easily replaced once showing signs of wear, and the 15 year old items on my ZT190 with 100k on the clock still look like new.

For anyone concerned about the age of the rubbers, leave me a note and I’ll include a new set in the box free of charge.
Can’t say fairer than that

The rubber boot is bonded on the original items, meaning replacement is not an option

The very reason I've just replaced one of the droplinks on my ZT Mat

No play in the joint, but the rubber was split, damned shame too
