Hello guys!
I bought a 75 3 months ago and I'd like to know how to best regulate my MAFAM that the previous owner had installed. Thank you!!

Hi Antonio.
The best way to regulate it, is remove it from the car, and then have the car upgraded to a 160, there are a few T4 guru's whom will sort it out for you by post, best to ask though whom is willing to post abroad.

Thanks for the tip mate! But, since I'm in Portugal and I bought it a few times ago, I couldn't find any T4 expert here yet. Thus, I'm trying just to understand how to regulate the MaFAM, since Im trying not to have, in a near future, any more extra expenses... But why do you do that suggestion? 160bhp is more advisable according to most of users? Thanks!!

The reason that most people recommend the 160 remap is because it produces the extra power in a different way than the tuning box.

The box increases the fuel supply by making the fuel pump work at a higher pressure than standard. This could, I say could make the pump wear out quicker or possibly blow seals and start leaking.

The remap increases the fuel supply by altering the duration of the injector open times. So, no extra load on the expensive fuel pump.

Generally accepted to be kinder to the car.

There appears to be a little confusion here, from what I read the OP has a MAFAM unit.

These were produced at a time where it was thought (erroneously) that boosting a "weak" Bosch MAF signal would overcome problems.

Now these are not tuning devices, but they are required when fitting a cheaper (incorrect) Pierburg MAF sensor in place of the original MAF.

My advice is simple, unless you have a Pierburg MAF fitted, removal of the MAFAM unit is the best course of action.

When a Bosch MAF fails, it fails with a higher than normal output, a fault condition that is exacerbated by amplifying the error.

Thank you very much Brian!! I do have a pierburgh MAF fitted along with the MAFAM. This is why I would like to know which would be the better way to have the Mafam's switch regulated. I don't know if it's better to adjust it to 100%/70% or whatever... I might upload some photos in order to make it easier having someone's advice on this!

Thank you in advance!!

Sorry, I thought you asked why the 160 was more desirable

Yes I did since I'm a noob on this field, and I don't understand much of it but the main question is how to regulate the Mafam's switch, since I have a pierburgh MAF fitted to my 75!
Thank you in advance!

Another option would be to have a MAFless tune done , don't have to worry about the MAF sensor then and can have some decent power
