Hi, I had one cut out stop, I tested everything then I decided to replace both the fuel pumps with the original makes. It solved the problem and 3 years on is still going strong. I had previously used aftermarket pumps, it's not worth it.

Morning all,

I should have updated this some time ago, but I didn't want to tempt fate - & I felt a bit foolish .

I eventually brought a leak off test kit & injector number 1 was shot. I replaced it with a replacement from Mickyboy & the car has been fine since.
MarinaBrian was correct in his diagnosis

Just read this thread, and was about to suggest disconnecting the MAF sensor. It worked for my CDT when it kept cutting out and in,jerking, so I replaced the sensor. Can someone explain why 1 dodgy injector will make the engine cut out, as opposed to just run rough and feel gutless?

One or more injectors with too much leak back can drop the HP fuel pressure, resulting in the ECM shutting the engine down.

A common problem with common rail injection systems.

Mike is spot on with what he says, you’d be surprised how many injectors I sell due to this issue, I’ve seen some very poor injectors in my time and not just on our cars

Is there a typical lifespan for these diesel injectors?

It depends upon the amount of Chocolate Hobnobs consumed during testing, but Mike's injectors when I last tested "Big Ron" were superb

This is the correct measurement of injector leakback, if you can consume half a packet before the jar fills up with diesel, then your injectors are perfect.
