Don't let the car out of your sight and source a new bumper for it! insurance would give you pittance for the write off. and you can get a new bumper for around £50!

Sorry to hear of you misfortune. Hope no one was hurt! I know it is unlikely to come as much consolation but it is only rubber and tin and worst case that can be replaced.

I have to say I agree with the comment above. Insurance Co. wouldn't blink an eyelid at writing it off.

My pal had an Octavia VRS that suffered similar damage. Insurance co were constantly trying to take it away for "assessment". I'd suggest any insurance assessor comes to you and if they insist on writing it off, try and get the car thrown in as part of the settlement. You could repair the damage yourself and get back on the road. Will probably be a CAT D but the alternative would probably be a fairly paltry pay out.

Best of luck!!

Sorry to hear this. Nothing too serious, thankfully.

Default Cold light of day

The boot is warped, as well as the bumper broken they are definately going to try to write it off. The initial assessment seems to be done by email, as I am not at home, so I can keep this connie away from the scrappers.

Defo keep the car where you know it`s safe and secure at home.
Plenty of bumpers around and you might even get one colour matched, put a request in the "Items Wanted" section on here.

Definitely hang onto the car - do not let them take it away - get any assessor to come out to you and if possible film what they do.

If the assessment is cursory and little more than a "look" than it can easily be challenged.

If the Insurance company cut up rough over this - tell them that in your view they are :-

"Not treating you fairly as they are required to do by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) "

That usually really gets their attention and you start getting treated properly rather than a box to be ticked.
