Scraping noise on back wheel.
Check that all your wheel nuts are on and tight. Loose/lost nuts give that scraping sound.

Check that the wheel hasn't moved in at the top and the inner part of the tyre is rubbing against the inner wheel arch liner.
This can happen if the upper suspension arm rusts through. If the wheel looks straight then could be one of the brake shoe clips has failed and caught against the inside of the drum part of the disc. . Last edited by Mike Noc; 28th September 2018 at 22:21.. |

Thanks guys, I had a quick look in the dark using me torch on my phone and it looks like the brake pads are touching the discs, making like a rattling noise and the scraping sound! It actually went away for a few mins on the way home and as pulled up on my drive I heard come back again as I parked up 🤔😕

Worth Having a look at the Backplates too - if the backplates are corroded the Retaining Pin for the HandBrake Shoes can fail - allowing the Shoes to move around inside the Drum.

I would say back plate. If the pin has pulled through you need to get it resolved quickly. I had it on my nearside where the pin would get jammed in something occasionally and noticeably cause drag. It worried me that it might jam up altogether. Mat at dmgr does the back plates at a reasonable price if needed

You need to remove the rear wheel, the brake calliper, and then the brake disc, and all will be revealed.

Could be just a stone jammed in between the calliper & disc. Take the wheel off and have a look.
