Default Going insane, can't find cd changer lead behind glovebox. Please Help :(

Hello all

I've spent the last three days looking for the cd changer lead on my 52 Connie. I bought a cd changer and wanted to fit it as my car didn't come with one

I've searched everywhere and resorted to taking the head unit and heater controls out but I still can't find it

I have the harmony fitted

Is there a chance my connie doesn't have a cd changer lead?

Please help

I am not sure if my memory is correct, but isn't the Cd changer in the boot for saloons?

Sometimes in the glovebox, others in the boot.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I sympathise with you, as a newbie myself and in exactly the same position as you with a Harmony head unit I've wanted to get a cd changer fitted too, but am adamant it should be fitted in the boot rather than the glovebox.

I've posted a request in the wanted section asking for the appropriate changer, mounting bracket and the connecting loom that's required, even sending messages to some of the breakers as well, but to no avail. It appears there are plenty of changers available, but no-one has been able to provide both the bracket and the lead, which are needed to make the thing work!

I shall watch this thread with interest to see how it develops.

A car with a harmony headunit probably won't have the lead fitted. Many were upgraded using aftermarket units from Sony with an adapter. To fit the Factory changer I think you need to buy a specific loom

In my car the CD was in the glovebox (there is a whole specifically for it and the changer was secured with Velcro rather than the bracket so I didn't have to take out the glovebox to remove it. The lead is still in the car, the changer in my spares cupboard. If you are ever in South Wales, drop me a line and we can work out a price if you like?

Would a car with the Hi-line setup have the wiring in place?

Mine was an Highline prior to my replacing it all with the Sean double din kit. Despite the high spec equipment level to which mine was built, it lacked the CD player. As part of installing the Sean DD ICE, TV and etc., I thoroughly investigated all of the ICE cabling and found no CD changer wiring in the car, in either the glovebox area, the DD area, nor the boot.

So an Highline equiped car, might or might not have the wiring, unless it was originally supplied with a CD changer unit.

Why bother with CDs. If you want to keep the original radio, get a bluetooth jobbie that connects to your phone or you can insert an SD card or USB stick. Then you can play all the music you like simply by tuning a radio channel to 87.5 or whatever setting works best for you.

Loads of types to choose from, this is just one example

Saves faffing with swapping out the CD selection every few weeks, months or years. And if you are really fussy about audio quality, just change the head unit.
