Tailgate on 04 conny Tourer
Hi everyone,
Out of the blue my tailgate won't open with the central locking. The rear window opens fine it's just the main tailgate. I can hear a click when I press the opening button but nothing happens. Is this an expensive job to put right or is there a quick DIY job I can do. Any help appreciated as it's now becoming a pain in the tailgate Bill |

Tailgate release
This seems to becoming a fairly regular problem.
Check the rubber weather cover fitted on the underside of the chrome number plate cover, where you press to open the tailgate, has not come out of place, inwards, and is getting in the way of the main lock release lever. Remove the cover completely and the trouble should be cured. Then carefully refit the cover in it's correct position. It also jams up the front button release by the driver's door |

Had my tourer almost 5 years, never a problem with bonnet or tailgate until went for MOT this year, tester had a 'helper' who managed to jam both! Bonnet wouldn't close properly nor tailgate open due to being ham-fisted i suppose using maximum brute force when not needed.
Tailgate button removal and refitting of rubber dust cover sorted problem, bonnet just needed grease around side locking pins, they had moved to a position way beyond normal and jammed both sides, though attended to every service they moved easily over normal range, but not beyond that point.
